Portland, Mich. – Amidst Sesquicentennial “Celebration Weekend” where hundreds will flood the downtown streets for fireworks and an Artisan Craft Fair, the Classic Car Cruise and Antique Road Show, Modern Craft will “merrily” open its doors to The Port: its “Lucky #7”. Owned by Merry and Brian Hass, The Port, located at 143 Kent St. in downtown Porland, is Modern Craft’s seventh wine tasting room to have ever opened in the state of Michigan.

“Brian and Merry are our kind of people,” says Tom Nixon, owner of Modern Craft. “They’re hardworking, family-oriented, and they’re ready to bring their vision to life and be part of what Modern Craft is all about. We couldn’t be happier having them as partners.”

Visitors will find a tropical paradise inside The Port during its soft opening (grand opening is to be announced) from 2 to 10 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, as well as:

• Modern Craft Wine & “The Mixperience”, an anything-but-routine wine tasting
• Courtney’s Candles (keep your eyes open for the make-your-own Wax on Tap Candle Bar coming soon, and “Wine + Sign” parties, too)
• “MI-Made Munchies” including gourmet pretzels from American Gourmet in Essexville and chocolates from Oh Mi Organics in St. Johns, Mich.

“We’re so excited to welcome people [into The Port],” says Merry Hass, “and to introduce them to Modern Craft and ‘The Mixperience’! This town is more than ready for this! We look forward to local and traveling friends gathering here as their ‘port’, a place of destination.”

Modern Craft celebrates The Port as “Lucky #7”, but still has “six appeal”, or six Modern Craft tasting rooms, after Modern Craft/Harrisville recently closed.
