Frankenmuth Tasting Room Opens

May 15, 2017 (Frankenmuth, Mich.) — At Modern Craft, we like different. That said, it’s not surprising that Modern Craft joined forces with Michigan’s largest bead store to give the Great Lakes Bay Region what they have been asking for, their own local Mixperience Room opening May 22nd. We know if you don’t typically follow Modern Craft, you’re probably thinking what on earth could these two companies have in common? Tom Nixon, owner of Modern Craft Wine answers that, “we are both modern retailers who share similar target demographics, including our approach to offering our customers quality, one-of-a-kind and unique items with the opportunity for our customers to “make it your own,” says Tom.
Modern Craft is making this move looking for reasonable reach across the eastern side of Michigan with their Mixperience Rooms. “Frankenmuth is recognized not only as a popular local destination spot, but it’s gained international recognition over the years through festivals and sponsored events, this just makes perfect sense,” Tom said. Modern Craft covers the US-23 and I-75 split very effectively, but for locals who do not travel north in the GLBR, Frankenmuth provides them a convenient opportunity to #GETINTHEMCMIX. Let’s not overlook the northern Detroit suburbs are also within reasonable travel distance. “Honestly, who doesn't like to go to Frankenmuth,” said Tom. With 3M visitors annually, Modern Craft couldn’t pass up the opportunity to partner with a highly- recognized and popular retailer like Bead Haven, who opened their doors in 1993 and has expanded three times before making the Quaint River Place Shopping Mall themed after a small Bavarian Village their final location.
Bead Haven and Modern Craft are also family owned businesses. “We were presented with the opportunity to partner with Modern Craft and we really loved the idea of mixing the bead shop with wine tasting,” said Gail Damm, the owner of Bead Haven. Gail believes Modern Craft wine is different than traditional wines and she thinks it adds another unique facet for the Frankenmuth wine tasting market, giving visitors more options. Bead Haven designed the 800-square foot wine tasting room with an industrial look, yet kept it warm and cozy by incorporating refurbished vintage cabinets, a warm color scheme, and soft Edison lighting. There will be a couple of bar top tables inside and a seasonal outdoor seating area. “You can also snuggle up to our custom made 20-foot bar, made with a cement counter top that we inlayed pieces of amethyst, blending our bead world with the new wine world,” said Gail. The Grand Opening is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend which is in conjunction with Dog Bowl and Balloons Over Bavarian Inn Festival at the River Place Shops where Bead Haven and Modern Craft are located. “It's going to be an exciting weekend,” said Gail.
Our loyal customers are very excited about the idea of being able to shop for beads and wine taste in the same location,” says Tara Jacob, General Manager of Bead Haven. Bead Haven plans to add Sip, Shop, and Jewelry Making Classes to their education schedule. There will be more information about this on our website and you can always call the shop. “We can always accommodate private events too,” said Tara. The Bead Haven team hopes everyone has a chance to stop in and check us out! CLICK HERE FOR DIRECTIONS
